Radio station: In 1937 and 1938, trials were conducted of a superior ship to shore broadcast system using the mechanical scanning TV system (M.S.T.V.). While the system worked, the picture quality was so poor that facial details were virtually unrecognisable.
Location: Trials were conducted with the liner sailing between Southampton - Cherbourg - New York. Passengers used the system to talk and see relatives on land.
